Doctors in training

We are a training practice. We have doctors working at the surgery who are able to deal with a full range of medical problems but are undertaking specialised training in general practice. These doctors are hospital trained and have been qualified doctors for a number of years. During the time at the practice they learn to apply their skills within general practice.

Our current doctors undertaking further training with us as are:

  • Dr Rasheed Akimbami
  • Dr Rufus Barraclough
  • Dr Mark Burrell
  • Dr Mike Holder

The Surgery also has established links with universities. We host 4th year medical students from  Hull York Medical School. These students are encouraged to run their own surgeries, supervised by one of our GPs, to support and develop their training. Providing a placement to these students means we can invest in the workforce of the future and help interest them in general practice as a career.

Thank you for welcoming the GP Registers and Medical Students and supporting them with their training during their time at the practice.

Nurse Practitioners

Our nurse practitioners have advanced nurse training which means they are able to diagnose, manage and treat many of the minor health care problems which were traditionally seen by the GP. Where necessary they are able to organise further investigations such as x-rays and blood tests or referral to a consultant, or other health care professional.
